SwitchWrite

Dictate a book, not text.

The first manuscript editor built for authors who write by speaking. Your voice becomes chapters, scenes, and structured prose — not a wall of text you have to clean up.

Every dictation tool gives you a mess.

The Cleanup Tax

You dictate 3,000 words in an hour. Then spend two hours separating your notes from your prose, fixing paragraph breaks, and deleting the parts where you were thinking out loud. Net gain: marginal.

Losing Your Place

You can’t see the screen while walking, driving, or in flow state. Where were you in the manuscript? What chapter? What scene? You won’t know until you sit down and read through everything.

Write-Forward Only

Want to fix something you said ten minutes ago? Stop dictating. Open the doc. Find the passage. Type the edit. Try to get back into flow. Good luck.

SwitchWrite understands what you mean.

When you dictate, you don’t just write prose. You give yourself notes. You issue commands. You mark chapter breaks. You ask where you left off. SwitchWrite hears all of it — and puts each piece in the right place.

Prose goes into your manuscript. Notes go into a notes panel. Edit commands get executed. Structure markers create chapters and scenes. Your first draft comes out organized, not tangled.

All processing runs locally on your computer. Your unpublished manuscript never touches the cloud.

Built for books, not emails.

Intent Classification

Speak naturally. SwitchWrite separates your prose from your notes, edit commands, and chapter markers automatically.

Hashline Editing

Say “go back to where Sarah enters the room and change it so she’s carrying the box.” SwitchWrite finds the passage and makes the edit.

Manuscript Structure

Chapters, scenes, and notes — organized from the moment you speak them. Not flattened into a single document.

Voice Navigation

Ask “where am I?” or “read me the last paragraph.” Navigate your manuscript without touching a keyboard.

Privacy First

Everything runs on your machine. No cloud uploads, no AI training on your unpublished work.

Push-to-Talk

Silence is thinking time, not an error. Dictate in bursts, the way authors actually work.

Why we built this.

SwitchWrite started as a device for one person — the developer’s blind father, who wanted to write a novel but couldn’t use a keyboard. Solving that problem revealed something bigger: every author who dictates is fighting their tools instead of writing. We’re building what should have existed years ago.
